About the Author
1. Do you have a favourite character in the series?
Obviously, I love all four of them, but I always have a
preference for the wounded, slightly-off-track ones. In other words, I
do have a bit of a soft spot for Nat.
2. Do you have a favourite scene?
Gosh, I really have to rack my brain for this question.
Since completing High Rise, I’ve written a whole new series, which is
now completely crowding my mind. ;-) I’m an erotica author, so writing
those scenes is always great fun, but what I enjoy even more is the
banter scenes between friends, especially when Nat berates Alex for
being too uptight.
3. Do you think you'll ever come back and write more for the girls?
That’s highly unlikely. As much as I loved writing the High
Rise series, it has come to a natural end (without wanting to give away
the ending). I have so many other ideas for novels and series and new
characters… I think, for now, I’ll focus on new material.
4. Did anything inspire the series, a film, song or tv show?
Living in Hong Kong definitely gave me the idea of setting
the series in a high rise building. As a lesbian, I guess I’m also
always (even subconsciously) inspired by The L Word and Lip Service.
5. Do you have a favourite writing snack or drink?
Coffee, coffee and more coffee (and coke zero.)
6. Do you listen to music while writing?
No, I require absolute silence… which is impossible to find in Hong Kong (but I get by.)
7. Do you get distracted while writing?
The past half year I’ve taken up the habit of only writing
for about three to four hours per day, all concentrated in the morning,
starting right after I get out of bed. I’ve found it has helped
tremendously with battling procrastination and keeping focus. I also use
anti-social software which keeps me off the internet while writing. ;-)
8. If you could go on a date with anyone of the ladies who would it be and why?
For a date, I would definitely pick Isabella. Give me a
cougar/power lesbian every day of the week, please. She’s smart,
sophisticated and a psychiatrist (and she lives in the penthouse!)
9. If you could turn into any of the characters who would you chose?
Alex! Because she has endless motivation to go to the gym. I could use some of that in my life. ;-)
